What is the Gospel?
The gospel means Good News; therefore, the gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. The Gospel is God's Good news proclaimed to us mankind. It is His (God's) News to deliver mankind from their just eternal punishment for their sins, and to bring them (us, humanity) forgiveness of sins and eternal life to all those who will believe in the sacrifice of His Son Jesus. All those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior will be saved by God everlastingly. This is God's message that He is declaring to the world through the word of God. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the proclaiming of the death, burial, and bodily resurrection of Christ Jesus. There is no other gospel than this, there never has been and there never will be. Jesus is the Savior of the world and He is the only Savior.
The good news is that God's Son (Jesus Christ) came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). Yes, He Jesus Christ is the sinner's Savior. Jesus (who is the Son of God) died for all your sins on the cross, thus taking your punishment for them in full from God the Father, in so that you won't have to when you meet the Lord God on judgment day. And most importantly He (Jesus) arose from His grave! What this means is that He (Jesus) conquered sin, defeated death, hell, and the grave for you when He died on that cross for you and when He resurrected bodily from His grave!
The bible declares that God is love (1 John 4:8), not that God can love, or not that God might love, but that He is the very expression of its meaning. But the bible also says something else, the bible says that all human beings are sinners in (Romans 3:23), and this is man's problem from God's perspective. The bible says all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. If you were honest with yourself, you would know and admit that you have sinned multiple times against God repeatedly. Now, because of that sin or sins that we all have committed against God, we have now been separated from God as a result of our disobedience to him. And the bible clearly teaches that we cannot fix this separation from God in it of our selves. The bible clearly teaches us that man cannot save himself from his own depraved sinful condition (Jeremiah 17:9) (Proverbs 14:12) (John 8:34) (James 2:10) (Isaiah 64:6) (Ephesians 2:8-9) (Titus 3:5-7) (1 Timothy 2:4-6) (John 14:6) (Acts 4:12). In the word of God there are devastating consequences that is given to man for his sins. Let's just look at a few of these consequences together here below.
The bible mentions 4 major consequences that sin brings upon sinful men.
1. Because we have sinned against God the bible declares that we are separated from God (Colossians 1:21).
2. Because we have sinned against God the bible declares that we are enemies of God (Colossians 1:21) (Romans 5:10).
3. Because we have sinned against God the bible declares that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) (Ezekiel 18:4, 20).
4. Because we have sinned against God the bible declares that now the wrath of God abides over us (John 3:36)! The bible clearly teaches that apart from faith in the Savior Jesus Christ, we sinners will justly spend an eternity in hell for our sins (John 3:18) (John 8:24) (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9) (Revelation 20:15) (Revelation 21:8)!
Now to us as human beings sin is no big deal, sin really is not a big problem for us, but to God this is not so, to God sin is a very big deal and it is the worst thing that can happen from God's perspective. Sin offends a holy, perfect and a righteous God and it angers him greatly. Sin is the very opposite of his holy character and nature. So now we clearly see from scripture how bad sin really is, by the great consequence that is given to all who engage in it. We now also see how much God hates sin. He hates it so much to an infinite degree that all sinful behavior whether small or great is worthy of an eternal hell in His eyes. So, to make it plain the consequences for sin are great to say the least. The consequence for your sin is that you are separated from God, the consequence for your sin is that now you are an enemy of God, the consequence for your sin is death, this death is a threefold type of death. This means you will die physically, spiritually, and eternally apart from faith in Jesus Christ. Lastly the consequence for your sin is that the wrath of almighty God abides over you! The bible is crystal clear that apart from faith in Jesus Christ as Savior you will spend a justly price of an eternity in hell for your sins! Now do you see your dilemma. You have sinned against Almighty God himself! Dear reader are you truly comprehending what I am saying? Now do you understand the fearful danger that your soul is in because of the many sins you have committed against God himself. Dear reader take a moment and truly think about what I am saying, If this Holy God gives you justice according to your sins as they so righteously deserve, how (I repeat how) shall you ever escape God's eternal punishment?
Do not despair dear reader because there is hope for you yet. Thanks be to God that He has made a gracious plan to save sinful humanity from the eternal punishment for their sins. And this was His one and only plan, "God sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ into the world to be man's Savior and Redeemer. Jesus lived a sinless and a perfect life to replace our sinful lives, and He took our punishment for our sins in full there at the cross." So, it's like this, every time that you lied, God punished Jesus on that cross for your lie! Every time that you lusted for a man or for a woman who was not your married partner, God punished Jesus on that cross for your lust! Every time you disobeyed your parents, God punished Jesus on that cross for your disobedience etc. Why would Jesus do this one may ask? Why would Jesus who is sinless, perfect, and Holy take our full punishment for our sins there at the cross? One word "Love." Jesus is God in the flesh, and He loves you so much that He took the punishment for every one of your sins at the cross. Jesus did this because He loves you more than you can ever fathom, and He wants you to be saved by him. So, what must one do to be saved by God and to be forgiven of all their sins one may ask? You must recognize that you are a sinner who has sinned against God and you must now place your faith in God's Son Jesus, that is believing He died on the cross to pay the full penalty for all your sins, and believing He (Jesus) arose bodily from His grave. Once a person sincerely believes and places their faith in Jesus for salvation, they are instantly given the Holy Spirit by God himself, thus they are born again spiritually, and they will be saved by God everlastingly (Galatians 3:2) (Ephesians 4:30). Simply put, Faith in Jesus' death, burial, and bodily resurrection = salvation. For proof just look at a few of these biblical Scriptures here below. Read (Mark 1:15) (Romans 1:16-17) (Romans 3:25-26) (Galatians 2:16) (Acts 16:30-31) (John 3:16, 36) (John 6:28-29, 40) (John 14:6) (1 John 5:11-13) (Acts 4:12).
Romans 1:16-17 (NLT)
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes--Jews first and also Gentiles. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life.
Romans 3:25-26 (NLT)
25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.
Galatians 2:16
16know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.
Acts 16:30-31
30He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
31They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.
John 3:16
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son (Jesus), that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 6:28-29
28Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
John 14:6
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
1 John 5:11-13
11 And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son (Jesus). 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God's Son does not have life.
Conclusion
13 I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.
Acts 4:12
12Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Acts 4:12 (CEV)
12Only Jesus has the power to save! His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone.
So, the bible is clear that salvation is found in the person of Jesus Christ and in Jesus Christ alone. The bible declares today is the day of salvation. Look here below.
2 Corinthians 6:2 (NLT)
2 For God says, At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation,
I helped you. Indeed, the right time is now. Today is the day of salvation.
Dear reader tomorrow is not promised to no one. Believe in Jesus The Savior today while you still have time.
We as firm believers in Christ Jesus have been entrusted and commanded by Him to preach His gospel (Mark 1:15) (Mark 16:15). In so that everyone may be saved through faith in The Holy Son of God. Those who place their faith in Jesus the Savior will escape God's righteous and justly eternal condemnation for their sins, and will be rewarded a free gift they don't deserve which is everlasting life through Christ Jesus our Lord (John 3:16-18, 36) (John 5:24) (John 6:40) (Acts 10:43) (Acts 13:38) (Romans 6:23) (1 John 5:11-13)! You may also read (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) (Luke 24:45-47) (2 Timothy 1:9-10) (Titus 1:2-4).
